When I Found out I was pregnant with my 5th baby, I knew I wouldn't have a birth partner as we have no family close and my partner has the other children when I labour, this time I felt like I needed a doula present to support me and my baby, I asked around if anyone knew of anyone close, nobody got back to me, eventually, when I was around 27 weeks pregnant) someone said they had found me Michelle! I contacted Michelle and we had a chat about the distance and if this would be a problem, we discussed my previous births and why I had concerns etc etc, Michelle was amazing and listened to everything I had to say, we do live quite a fair distance away from each other but we arranged to meet when I took my other children on holiday, on meeting Michelle finally (when I was 32 weeks pregnant) I was greeted with a beautifully calm smiling lady who also greeted my youngest child, we sat in a cafe and had a really good conversation about my previous births, my preferences and what I was looking for ,a few weeks passed and I decided that Michelle was the lady that I would definitely like to be at my birth and support me through the remaining few weeks of my pregnancy. Michelle keeps in touch with me at least once a day and is very supportive already , I am really looking forward to welcoming Michelle into my birth space and looking forward to seeing what she can offer me and how she can support me through a hopefully beautiful calm labour and delivery 🙂
